My Top Free Blogging Platforms in 2025

My Top Free Blogging Platforms in 2025

Each can help you to make a full-time income

Long-form content will win, always.

I started using Twitter five years ago. I also used Reddit for a long time.

But it wasn’t a blogging platform I was looking for.

Many advised me to go with WordPress or another self-hosted site. I bought the domain and everything needed to run it.

But here’s the catch.

Instead of spending my time creating content, I was pouring my energy and time into designing and site management.

And I hated every bit of it.

I am a solopreneur. I run my business completely on my own. I am sure many can relate to that.

  • Content creation takes 2–3 days, sometimes more, to create
  • Product creation takes more time
  • research, SEO, and so on
  • marketing
  • Not to forget that every writer has multiple side hustles. Means more social media accounts to handle.

So I started looking for another option where I don’t have to deal with all this stuff.

All I wanted to dedicate my time to was writing. That’s it.

No designing. No site management. Nothing.

So I cancelled all of my subscriptions for my site and started searching for more better option.

I tried more than 5+ blogging platforms before finally settling on Medium.

Low-ticket vs High-ticket Digital Products: What I Learned After 1000 Sales

Why do the right platforms matter?

I spent 4–5 months finding the right option.

I always thought all platforms were basically the same. I mean, you write and hit publish. There is nothing more to do. But with time, I actually realized that the right platforms can make a big impact on my writing business.

When you hit the right platform, your business grows much faster compared to others.

And above this, I want to pick one and stick to it. I am not a fan of changing my tech stacks.

I still use the same tools I used 5 years ago.

I still use the same software for my writing business.

It’s always been difficult for me to change after I have grown accustomed to it.

How I Make Money Selling Digital Products on Medium

What do I look for in a blogging platform?

This has changed a lot.

All I needed was a platform with a vast reader base, and the interface should be user-friendly.

But if you are looking for a new platform, then you should consider this —

  1. Ease of use — I really dont like many customization options. I want something that I can get started from DAY 1.
  2. SEO — I am into writing. If my articles rank on Google, then better! Doing this on WordPress is very difficult. If I get a social media platform, then it’s win-win for me.
  3. Monetization — of course. No use if I cannot monetize my content. I wanted multiple options. Think of YouTube. You have Partner Program, affiliate marketing, selling your own memberships and courses, sponsorships, etc.
  4. Mobile—friendly — I don’t use Mobile apps much. But many readers do. So for my readers’ convince, I need this feature as well.
  5. Analytics — I wanted an in-built dashboard. I am not a fan of using Google Analytics much. I use it just for my Instagram Music store, that’s all.

My Top Blogging Platforms in 2025

  1. Medium — No doubt. This has to be on top of my list. Medium was the first blogging platform where I made money without any marketplaces. And that’s what I wanted. I didn’t know that Medium articles ranked on Google. Most of my sales were from Medium readers. So that’s win-win for me. Plus, there are many monetization options.
  2. Reddit — This one I used even before Medium. But my real problem is that it’s actually not a Blogging platform. It’s a community platform that supports short and long-form content. I still use it. And it still gives me pretty good results. Now they also have a partner program. Haven’t used it yet, but this definitely helps a lot of content creators out there.
  3. Twitter — the first one I started writing on. I met many writers on Twitter who were already making a full-time income. It was for micro-blogging before. But now you can also write full content.
  4. Substack — I think this has become a favorite for many writers and content creators. One of the best things is that it’s free. I used a paid membership platform can be pretty expensive. But subtsack is really cheap compared to them.
  5. Threads — I wrote an article on this platform. I mentioned that I am not going to use this platform ever. But seeing others making money from Threads made me curious. And I made an account there 5 months ago. I hit my 1 million views in under one month. Haven’t monetized it yet, but I will soon update on this.

My THREE Side Hustles That Every Mom Should Have

Conclusion

On all platforms I mentioned above, I have made money from all.

But when you need to grow further, you actually need to stick to a few. I would say to only ONE if you need to reach four figures per month.

Know what your goals are. No need to chase any trends. See where your needs are being met.

Always start with a ZERO DOLLAR investment.

Pick a Platform BETTER than multiple platforms.
