Low-ticket vs High-ticket Digital Products: What I Learned After 1000 Sales

Low-ticket vs High-ticket Digital Products: What I Learned After 1000 Sales

Don’t think the market is saturated!

I love selling digital products.

Not because everyone else was doing it. I didn’t even know anything like this existed.

All I knew about were ebooks. That’s it!

The main reasons I chose the digital product business over others are —

  1. I can create products myself
  2. The tools I need are free
  3. Demand everywhere
  4. $0 investment
  5. Can be started from DAY 1

Lately, I see social media filled with questions about whether to sell low-ticket or high-ticket digital products

I’ve sold digital products priced from $2.99 to $25. Some bundles have been priced at $ 49 or more.

I’ve also sold other creators’ products ( through affiliate marketing) priced at $100+.

Here’s what actually makes me MORE money:

How I Make Money Selling Digital Products on Medium

1. Low-ticket products ($2.99 — $49):

My favorite. I wasn’t sure how to price my products at first. Most ebooks on marketplaces are priced between $2.99 and $9. And still, writers are making four-figure sales each month.

So I went first with this option. The goal was to reach $1k slowly but steadily.

Here’s why I believe low-ticket products are best for beginners —

  1. They sells faster — This is what really convinced me. Even with my brand new account and just a few followers, I got my first sale within 3 weeks.
  2. Less pressure on me — I was just starting my digital product world. Really didn’t know what would work and what would not. So, low-ticket products gave me a space to experiment without the stress.
  3. Great for almost all digital product types (except audio and video) — Ebooks are best. Planners are really good, too.

2. High-ticket products ($100+):

I started selling high-priced digital products in Sep 2024.

I first attempted selling high-ticket products in 2022, but I failed. I got lots of signups but no sales.

After three years, I decided to give it another shot. There was nothing to lose.

This only works if you’ve already had experience selling low-ticket products. Jumping straight into high-ticket usually doesn’t work well. Trust me.

  1. High revenue per sale — Compared to low-ticket products, here the revenue is higher.
  2. Best for coaching, video courses, and even selling full-frame systems — Ebooks, planners are best for low-ticket products. While audio, video, or coaching courses are best. Most of the cost is above $80+. If it’s 1:1 coaching, then it’s $150 per hour for consultations.

Whenever I get sale notifications, I really get happy. But let me tell you some downfalls I found in my journey —

  • Lower conversion rates — If you are new or not well-known, it’s thought to gain trust. I see conversion is mostly around 1% or even less.
  • Trust is higher to build — Again, buying from an unknown is very difficult.

3. My low-ticket products OUTSELL high-ticket ones 10:1

I will keep saying this. My income from all marketplaces is mostly from low-ticket products. Most of my digital products are around $9 to $29, and sell REALLY well.

LOW -TICKET → really good for building trust with customers

TRUST → upsells high-ticket digital products

4. Low-ticket MEANS faster sale

Low-ticket products sell faster when they are priced between $15 and $39.

I’ll say it again that low-ticket digital products are really good when —

  • You have a small audience
  • You want to test out an idea
  • You’re trying to build an email list
  • You enjoy creating small, complete digital products

5. High-ticket MEANS a long-term play

I wanted to build a sustainable business. In short, I can call it passive income.

If you are making four-figure sales this month, you want the same in the coming months as well. And that’s possible only when you have high-ticket products in your store.

Here’s what makes a high ticket offer really work —

  • offers transformation — the products should offer change or value
  • testimonials, because this brings in more sales. leads to better conversions
  • support system — Example — Q/A, community, and also 1:1 access, email support, and so on.

Some high-ticket products that generate more revenue — All-in-one digital kits, premium bundles, coaching, etc.

6. High-ticket products better than low-ticket products?

Nope. Seriosuly no.

Both have their own pros and cons. And you need to know when to use what.

Low-ticket items help to grow my business

While high ticket helps me scale

Both are good in their own way.

Use both smartly.

Conclusion

Be smart — successful creators use both.

Fast growth. Fast feedback — I prefer low-ticket products.

Bigger income, deeper value — I prefer high-ticket products.

I don’t prefer sticking to just one type.

I love using them strategically.
