Medium is still the best platform!
It’s been a while since I have talked about my journey on Medium. I have started a few new side hustles, like YouTube automation and my music store. You can find more details here —

My Weekend Side Hustles: How I Earn Income on the Weekend
I started my writing journey on Twitter and Reddit. I have always loved writing long-form content, but have never found a proper platform for it. Short-form content is not my cup of tea. Never have I been.
Becoming a writer is easy. But finding a perfect place for your writing isn’t.
I started with romance and horror ebooks. Most of the writers 8 years back were on either Twitter, Reddit, or Facebook. Facebook never interested me, so I left within a few days. Reddit is still a gem if one knows how to use it properly.
Some writers are making money on Instagram.
Some writers make money on Twitter.
Some still are on Facebook and doing well!
But none were for me.
It was an old Twitter post that led me to Medium.
I don’t remember the name, but it was a Twitter writer who wrote about her money-making journey selling ebooks on Medium. I tried to find the old Twitter post, but no luck.
That small, Medium post gave me hope.
Why Medium worked so well for me!
Just one answer.
The community.
Every platform has a community, but none can be compared to this platform. And I am not exaggerating. After writing here for almost 3 years, I have two blogs that consistently make me money selling digital products alone!
- A good community means we all grow together.
- Writers do read a LOT here. Not kidding.
- I never had any problem here. Only once with my account, but the team resolved it quickly within a few hours. That’s all!
What type of digital products should to sell?
I mostly stick to ebooks, sometimes audios, and templates. But these are another type of digital products that you can sell on this platform —
- Software — If you are into programming languages, then this is right for you. Themes, templates, apps, etc, can sell well here. Medium has a very large readership in this category. I spent a lot of my time reading articles on Android, JavaScript, and Python.
- Audiobooks — You have an ebook, then convert it into an audiobook. This way, you make money in two different ways. I see some simply love audiobooks more than ebooks.
- Video lessons — I simply use free software to make video lessons. Boya mic, Openshot, and OBS studio will do a lot. You can also use Canva for presentations.
- Subscriptions —This is the best one. Selling other formats will make money ONCE, but this will give you recurring income. Choose any niche and you can start promoting your newsletter from day one.
- Graphics — Illustrations, Procreate brushes, iPad icons sell so well these days. When I was into website development, I used to buy a lot of Illustrations from Etsy.
- Art — Best places to sell are Creative Fabrica, Shutterstock, Adobe, Teachers Pay Teachers, etc
- Music — For this, I highly recommend Spotify and Findaway Voices.
I have listed here only 7. But there are many more than this.
Some that I found currently but never tried myself —
- Digital Wall Art
- Pet clinic business tracker
- Resumes
and so on
I would say to stick to a few. The ones you like.
No need to stretch yourself in all the direct.
Stick to a few. Work daily.
You’ll see the results soon.
